Industrial Placement Programme
It's Never too early to succeed
Our Industrial Placement Programme is designed to give students support, development opportunities and maximum exposure to the corporate environment. This means students can get involved in what's at the very heart of the business and make a real difference right from the start. Success during your placement year can even lead to a full time job after graduation. We offer over 40 placement positions to apply for within Finance, IT, Business and Marketing.
About the scheme
The Xerox Industrial Placement Scheme is highly respected and designed to give students support, development opportunities and maximum exposure to the corporate environment; a place to test your knowledge and develop your skills. The roles we offer are real jobs. You will work with staff right across our business; in many cases with client exposure too; you will deliver key services, project work and add value throughout our business.
We treat our student population as a highly skilled, high potential segment of our workforce. We expect students to contribute to our business success. At times roles can be demanding, but balanced with strong support networks and a great social environment. If you are looking for a company where your knowledge will be tested and your skills will be developed, Xerox is the right company for you.

Graduate Opportunities
At Xerox we see our Industrial Placement Programme linking directly into our Graduate positions - placement students make the perfect graduate recruit as they know our business and have experienced first-hand the Xerox working environment. Therefore, we actively keep in touch with past placement students and make them aware of Graduate Opportunities when they become available.
Industrial Placement Programme FAQ's
Industrial Placement Programme FAQ's
Where will I be based?
The UK and European Headquarters for Xerox are based in Uxbridge Middlesex, however we also have Xerox offices in Hertfordshire, Glasgow and Leeds, as well as client sites around the country.
Do you help placement students find accommodation?
For all locations we offer students guidance and advice in finding suitable accommodation during their placement year. Uxbridge based students can usually stay at Brunel University halls over the summer period, moving to flats or shared houses once Brunel students return for the first semester.
How does your application process work?
Our application process follows 5 steps:
Step 1. Search - our vacancies and follow the link to apply online
Step 2. Applying online - During the application stage you will be asked a series of questions. You will then need to upload your CV and cover letter.
To make the process easier we recommend you prepare your answers in Word, do a spell check and then copy and paste them into the boxes during the online application. The cover letter should include the answers to the four questions on the advert.
There is a 150 word limit on your answers and you also need to attach your CV when asked to do so.
Step 3. Online tests - We use SHL ability testing as part of our recruitment process – please don’t be put off by this, the best way to approach this is to take a practice test at www.shldirect.com.
Step 4. Assessment Review – Your full application including your SHL test scores are reviewed by the Hiring Manager at which point you will be notified of whether you have been selected to attend an assessment centre. Please be aware there may be a short delay from the time you apply to receiving a response from the recruitment team. This is due to the high volume of applications that are received.
Step 5. Assessment Centre – We run assessment days from December through to March. If you are invited, be positive, we try to make the day as welcoming and interesting as possible!
Will there be an opportunity to meet other new starters and placement students?
Formal induction programmes are held locally to welcome new starters to the business and these provide an excellent opportunity for new students to meet. In addition we plan a minimum of one week handover between outgoing and incoming placement students, the outgoing student acting as buddy to the new starter. The Industrial Placement community at Xerox also have frequent social events. We also have a Facebook group with current and new students so that students can contact each other before they start and even start organising accommodation!
